ABOUT CAROL

Carol's art career began in 1982 exploring a variety of media but eventually her focus was with acrylic painting depicting her iconic vibrant landscapes around the Childers and Cordalba sugarcane growing areas.
Her work was featured in the Australian Artist magazine in 2001.

She studied drawing and introductory art and design at the Hervey Bay Senior College (TAFE) graduating with a distinction as well as the Arts Training QLD Action Learning Programme in public art. She then tutored introductory drawing at TAFE in 1994. Was approached to tutor for Summer Art Experience at The Merroo Conference Centre Kurrajong NSW in 2007 as well as tutoring two Summer School Experiences Canberra in 2005 and 2008. In 2004/05 was contracted by the Isis Shine to undertake public artworks at Childers. In 2005 undertook a public artworks for the Portside Parkland in Maryborough with 22 bronze pavement plaques.
Carol was the Flying Arts representative in Maryborough/Hervey Bay from 2000 to 2005 and has been employed by the Fraser Coast City Council to curate exhibitions at the Hervey Regional Gallery from 2000 to 2005.

In 2008 was awarded a 1 month residency as part of a cultural exchange in Leshan-China.

The acquisition of an etching press in the 1990s changed the main focus of her art practice to printmaking. In collaboration with another experienced printmaker, Gatakers Print Studio was established and with assistance fromThe Fraser Coast City Council has now become a vibrant hub for printmaking, delivering workshops and exhibitions both locally and internationally.
